La University of Terrassa develops, as every year, a student formula project through the team EcoRacing in the division diverless.
With this project, students develop, using new technologies, systems to carry out autonomous driving and design and fine-tune the single-seater to make it as efficient as possible.
For this project, the need arises for advanced computing equipment with which to carry out a virtual model, "digital twins" with which they take a technological leap in development.
SIE offered the team a workstation specially designed to carry out operations with Nvidia Omniverse, the new platform based on Universal Scene Description (USD) that allows people and teams to create personalized 3D pipelines, also being able to render simulations in real time, increasing productivity and speeding up work times.
Finally, the car was presented on May 24 on the 15th anniversary of the Terrassa Higher School of Industrial, Aerospace and Audiovisual Engineering (Eseiaat).
This year's EcoRD23 is an electric single-seater that has a motor for each wheel (which gives four-wheel drive) and with which it manages to do 0-100 in 2,4 seconds, reaching 140 kW of power. (187 hp).
To have better cornering with all this power, they also have the system Torque vectoring which independently modulates the torque of each of the wheels.
A great improvement point this season is the Driverless technology with which they are already achieving times similar to those of real drivers on the track. Thanks to this great progress, they will compete for another year in the Formula Student Germany Driverless Cup against the 30 best teams in the world.
A big step towards the future of ecological and autonomous driving.
