What is BeeGFS?
BeeGFS is a hardware-independent POSIX parallel file system (a.k.a Software-defined Parallel Storage) developed with a strong focus on performance and designed for ease of use, simple installation, and management. BeeGFS is created on an Available Source development model (source code is publicly available), offering a self-supported Community Edition and a fully supported Enterprise Edition with additional features and functionalities including High Availability. BeeGFS is designed for all performance-oriented environments including HPC, AI and Deep Learning, Media & Entertainment, Life Sciences, and Oil & Gas (to name a few).
- Distributed Storage and Metadata System
The storage system and metadata division avoids important bottlenecks. Likewise, the Striping system allows several servers to inherit these roles, increasing performance and IOPS. Large systems benefit greatly from these systems thanks to the multiple metadata servers.
- HPC technology
BeeGFS does not require Kernell patches, the components are easily installable thanks to its management tools. It also allows adding more clients and servers in the HPC system whenever you want. Likewise, the performance is exceptional since it has native RDMA protocol. In case of not having infiniband the performance in 10G is outstanding.
