Sistemas Informáticos Europeos, has installed a new cluster at the Autonomous University of Barcelona this summer. This cluster, corresponding to our SIE Ladón series, is integrated within the XRQTC, Catalan Reference Network in Theoretical and Computational Chemistry.
It provides researchers in this discipline with almost 1.000 computing cores, interconnected through a low-latency 40 Gb/s Infiniband network and based on the latest generation AMD Opteron Interlagos processors and speeds at 2,6 Ghz (2,9 Ghz in turbo mode).
Said cluster is a challenge in terms of consumption, because despite the power it provides, it is below 14.000 w in consumption, thanks to the energy efficiency offered by the components chosen by SIE for its manufacture.
SIE is a Spanish manufacturer of reference in HPC solutions in the field of scientific research and which in 2012 began its internationalization process, with new projects abroad.
