Supercomputing for materials chemistry

November 3, 2022Success storiesAlberto Uriarte

In July 2020 SIE installed new nodes for the Computational Chemistry cluster of the University of Barcelona (IQTCUB).

The research activity carried out at IQTCUB encompasses the development of computational methods and tools, the application of various electronic structure and simulation techniques to problems in materials science, the study of reactivity and reaction dynamics in chemical reactions.

Simulation and discovery of advanced materials

Now, following the collaboration with SIE, the institute's more than 100 researchers have impressive global computing power, enabling them to conduct research in various fields of theoretical and computational chemistry.

With the expansion of the cluster, the institute is opening up new fields of research and we expect to see more amazing discoveries in the future.

Press releases

The IQTC approached Sistemas Informáticos Europeos (SIE), a Spanish company specializing in servers, workstations, and other network and communications systems. After many rounds of discussions, SIE boiled the client's needs down to three key points...
